From @stedahl: Why did Paul Burchill fail? Is he still wrestling at all?
Paul Burchill was a talented in ring performer that was saddled with a bad gimmick. The pirate character that WWE tried with him was never going to work. Maybe they thought it was going to be successful because of those Pirates of the Caribbean movies, but it's one thing to be in a great movie and another thing to try to make it as a wrestler doing that sort of thing. It was too cheesy. When the pirate gimmick didn't work, they paired him up with Katie Lea Burchill as his on-screen sister. There were all kinds of rumors that they were going to do some incest angle with them although it never happened because WWE was PG by that point. As a talent there was nothing wrong with him. He just didn't do anything to stand out. He's married with two children and retired a few years ago to become a firefighter. Good for him. Some guys have a hard time moving on as we've seen so many times.
