From @bdc038: Do you believe that the WWE relies too much on "cheap heat" to get storylines over?
They do, but that's pro wrestling. Cheap heat is always going to be a part of the wrestling business as long as Vince McMahon is around and more than likely long after he is gone as well. This week on Raw we saw it when they used Reid Flair's death to make Paige look like more of an evil heel in her dispute with Charlotte. It's happened in the recent past, when CM Punk dumped the "ashes" of Paul Bearer on The Undertaker shortly after his death. When Jerry Lawler had a heart attack, Punk and Paul Heyman mocked him on the first night he was back on Raw. That's the serious version of cheap heat. There's also the cheap heat that involves ripping on the hometown crowd. Normally it's just telling jokes about the local sports team as a way to rile up the crowd. That's fine and dandy, but there's a line that doesn't always have to be crossed. Wrestling fans know this kind of thing is always going to be a part of the business and it's not going to change any time soon.
