10 WWE Quick Fixes To Save Finn Bálor
6. Universal Intentions
The silent assassin to put a bullet in Bálor's upward momentum since his April return, an almost blanket disinterest in reclaiming the Universal Title has made him look weak and disinterested in allegedly the primarily reason for his painful rehabilitation.
Outside of a fleeting glance towards reclaiming the strap during the build-up to the fatal five-way number one contender's match that headlined June's Extreme Rules pay-per-view, Finn himself hasn't looked all that bothered about getting back in the hunt.
An intriguing segment with Paul Heyman on the run-up to that match marked probably the most interesting bit of work Bálor's been involved with in 2017. Brock's advocate was at his sycophantic best, but the message was abundantly clear underneath the hyperbole.
'I believe in my heart that you are the most talented performer in WWE today', uttered Heyman, wishing Finn luck for a match in a match he eventually lost.
It laid basic groundwork for a Lesnar match down the line, but more importantly placed Bálor briefly on even footing with the prize he was first to own, and a title he was never beaten for. That this one segment remains just about the only time his character has been included in those discussions is inexcusable. Reclaiming that championship shouldn't be a thing, it should be the only thing.
