10 WWE Releases That Could Have Been Easily Avoided

6. Emma

It's hard to look past Emma as being one of the biggest squandered opportunities ever to be mismanaged in WWE's women's division.

She had the lot.

A great look, cocky attitude and she could wrestle.

What more did they want?

Tenille Dashwood (which is her actual name and current Impact Wrestling alias) had jumped through every hoop put in front of her in Vince McMahon's company and tackled everything from dance competitions to pointless name changes with an admired level of professionalism.

After a disappointing first main roster run, Emma returned to NXT in 2015 and the first Australian woman to appear in WWE would turn heel on Bayley - before eventually losing that feud to The Hugger.

It would all lead to an impressive match against Asuka at NXT TakeOver: London, before she returned to the main roster and did nothing of any real note.

Suffering a back injury surely didn't help her cause, but the final nail in her WWE coffin came after a series of dreadful vignettes announced her impending return as Emmalina. WWE's lack of faith in the character change would lead to an immediate return to her original Emma character, before the company felt she had little left to offer them and released her in October 2017.

Dashwood is currently one of the hottest properties in all of wrestling and if WWE had allowed her the time to fully grow into the star she has become today, perhaps she could be currently challenging Becky Lynch for the Raw Women's Championship.
