10 WWE Returns Everyone Asked For (Which Ended Up Sucking)
7. Rob Van Dam
For a time, ECW legend and former WWE Champion Rob Van Dam was undoubtedly One of a Kind.
However, a solid six years removed from his last stint with the company, that time had evidently passed for the high-flying sensation in 2013-2014. Don't get your writer wrong, RVD could still go to a certain extent, putting on decent showings against the likes of Cesaro and during the 2014 Money in the Bank ladder match.
Yet those clamouring to see the star who many felt was robbed of his time at the top of the mountain reclaim a world title and defend it in five-star bangers against a new set of talents were ultimately left disappointed. Van Dam was quickly ushered into the mid-card and soon decided that his time was worth more to him than it was to the company, as he put it on Twitter, and left.
Been awhile Bull. Last time we talked, my time was worth more to me than to them. That hasn’t changed. https://t.co/Dv63eYEatf

He'd eventually pop back up later down the road on occasion and via 2021 WWE Hall of Fame induction, but the record will always show that an opportunity was missed to give Mr. Monday Night one last shot at the big time.
