10 WWE Returns Fans Don’t Want (But Secretly Do)

Admit it. You'd pop big if some of these bold WWE returns ever happened!

There were wrestling fans who'd offer cutting remarks on social media arguing against WWE re-signing CM Punk before it happened in late-2023. 'Why would Triple H want that drama on his doorstep?', some asked. 'He turned his back on the company 10 years ago anyway, and wouldn't be welcome back', others said.

Then, Punk appeared at Survivor Series 2023 and everyone lost their minds. That's a little mental dance many people do, including the fella writing this piece. We're all guilty of shooting something down before it happens, then doing a 180 because intrigue kicks in. 'Well, I suppose it'll be cool finding out what happens next'.

That sort of thing.

WWE have loads of returns you could file under "pending". Some are more fanciful than others, but that's the fun part. There's nothing tangible here other than one wrestler's locked in eventual comeback. Most of it is fantasy booking. Stranger things have definitely happened though, even recently.

For example, and to use Punk again, few thought he'd thrash things out with Triple H and become a major player on WWE's team again.

Who's next? So to speak!

10. The Hardys

There will always be something special about Matt and Jeff Hardy coming out to that entrance tune under WWE's banner. It's a magical mix of retro excitement and bobbing heads as the main riff kicks in and two daredevils make their way to the ring. It's 'Attitude', it's TLC, it's Team Xtreme.

It could happen all over again.

Listen, everyone knows Matt and Jeff can't go in-ring the same way they did before. They've used up 99.9% of their bumps, and that's just the way it is. Anyone claiming they'd fold their arms and look upset if the trademark tune hit and the brothers bounced to the ring is a liar though. Surely.

The Hardys sent WrestleMania 33's live crowd crazy in 2017, and they were past their best then. One more whirl in WWE isn't out of the question now the siblings have left AEW behind and are currently doing some stuff in TNA. Who'd deny them one or two matches more then a Hall Of Fame induction?
