10 WWE Returns Nobody Saw Coming

2. CM Punk (12 November 2019 - Backstage)

Had some eager soul from November 2019 shot back in time to claim that want-away rebel CM Punk would show up on a peripheral WWE talk show after leaving with a bad taste in his mouth in 2014, everybody (and their granny...and their granny's dog) would've chuckled.

Fat chance of that ever happening.

Sometimes, reality is stranger than any fantasy scenarios fans could come up with though. Seeing Punk, who had left WWE with a middle finger raised over five years earlier, walking out to play host on a show hardly anyone was interested in was damn weird. It'd be like if Bret Hart had strutted his stuff on Bottom Line back in the day.

News that Punk's contract was actually with FOX and not WWE didn't pick jaws up off the floor. Most had predicted he'd return someday, but those folks reasoned that it'd be for a massive WrestleMania pay off or something like that. Nobody had Punk pegged as a background analyst on a background show.
