Not even the truly woeful 'Mex-America' fallout involving former xenophobe Zeb Colter could kill the pop for Alberto Del Rio's unforeseen Hell In A Cell 2015 return. Fans in LA were hot for his comeback, and the goodwill continued for around eight more minutes until Del Rio beat John Cena for the US Title.

Then, it faded.

The crummy alliance with Colter must share part of the blame there, because nobody wanted it. Fans were stunned by the sight of a fired-up Alberto bounding out to take the belt from Cena, and they didn't need some old dude on a mobility scooter to help them react.

Del Rio had been fired amidst allegations of racism towards him from a WWE backstage employee in August 2014. When he reacted to that, Alberto was canned for "unprofessional conduct", and few expected to see him back so soon (if at all).
