10 WWE Returns That Must Happen In 2024

5. Stone Cold Steve Austin

Where exactly does Stone Cold Steve Austin sit when it comes to the prospect of one more match on one great night?

‘The Rattlesnake’ absolutely nailed his WrestleMania 38 return. This created simultaneous discussions that he should never wrestle again alongside calls for him to work every major WWE show going forward. Austin wasn't just "the old Stone Cold" bell-to-bell - he'd been spot on choosing the perfect terms for his remarkable comeback.

The Dallas 'Show Of Shows' closed the book on a career that started in the same place. Kevin Owens was a pitch-perfect opponent to make the relatively silly build-up feel completely serious on the night. And there's no better way to "go out on top" than to do so in the WrestleMania main event, just under two decades after you were forced off of the very same stage.

It was perfect. So much so that every time he posts a video looking jacked or smashing a cardio workout fit for a man half his age, every fan wonders aloud if there's more to come. WrestleMania XL's a special one, and he was very much super-sized set dressing at 20 and 30. With little more than a wink in Triple H's direction, he could be the whole damn set and then some.
