7. Tommaso Ciampa
Since arriving in WWE as a part-time addition on NXT, Tommaso Ciampa has made a big impact on the gold brand, earning himself a full-time contract in the process. His subsequent tag team with Johnny Gargano made both men standout performers on the roster.
Consistently appearing on NXT TakeOver specials as well as taking part in the critically acclaimed Cruiserweight Classic tournament, Ciampa and Gargano's work ethic saw them get over with the fans and they were rewarded with the NXT Tag Team Championships.
Gargano and Ciampa - collectively known as DIY - eventually lost the titles to The Authors of Pain two months later. Their failure to recapture the gold at TakeOver: Chicago eventually led their shocking split, when Ciampa turned heel on his partner post-match.
With DIY a thing of the past, Ciampa and Gargano looked set for blood feud going into the summer. In another case of bad timing, news soon broke that Ciampa had ruptured his ACL in the very match he made his heel turn and would be out of action for the foreseeable future.
Following surgery, Ciampa was given an estimated return date of March 2018. A logical renewal of his feud with Gargano awaits and the timing is almost perfect for them to collide at NXT TakeOver on WrestleMania weekend.
