10 WWE Returns We Can Expect For 2018
5. Batista
It's no secret that Dave Batista has had a rocky relationship with WWE ever since his short-lived return in 2014. Nevertheless, the acrimonious split has seen 'The Animal' become a self-made star in Hollywood, with roles in Spectre and Guardians of the Galaxy.
As such, it's created a situation where WWE needs him more than he needs WWE. Batista was even offered a spot at WrestleMania 32 but was said to have turned it down. Which asks the question: if performing in front of 100,000 fans isn't enough to coax him back, then what is?
The answer to that question is simple - the Hall of Fame. Recent rumours of Batista returning as the headline inductee for the class of 2018 were, at first, shocking to hear; however, upon closer inspection, it makes it all the sense in the world.
Batista was a huge part of WWE history in the early 21st century and his ascent to the top paralleled John Cena. The world title picture was almost exclusively his between 2005 and 2007, while his appearances outside of it have always been either main event or a special attraction.
His association with Triple H from his Evolution days adds further credence to the rumours; meanwhile, Batista's induction by Ric Flair would be a joy to watch, particularly following Naitch's recent health scare.
