10 WWE Reunions That Ultimately Disappointed

For many, the Invasion storyline of 2001 will go down as the biggest disappointment in pro-wrestling history. Certainly, it was the biggest missed opportunity WWE had to continue its good fortunes after purchasing WCW from AOL Time Warner. Instead, the company's record-breaking business and ratings began to plummet shortly after this event and the quality of WWE programming has yet to recover.

Part of this colossal disappointment was the fact that the WCW invaders were too weak to stand on their own, and another semi-major promotion that recently folded, ECW, was added to form The Alliance. Although The Alliance featured the reunion of many ECW wrestlers such as Taz, Raven, Tommy Dreamer, Rob Van Dam, and of course Paul Heyman, the circumstances that surrounded this group tempered any excitement.

Sure enough, ECW was dismissed before long when WWE defeated The Alliance in the Winner Take All match at Survivor Series '01. This made Heyman's group no different than the dozens of other mid-card wrestlers that had become lost in the shuffle ever since Vince McMahon officially won the war.
