10 WWE Romances You Totally Don't Remember

NXT TakeOver: Redemption was a show so brilliant in its inadvertent satire that even the title of the programme flew in the face of the total lack of opportunities the wrestlers stuck on it ever received.

It had so much going on, and yet absolutely nothing at all, and the fact that it seemed booked by the wrestlers themselves whilst being completely ignored by the bulk of management resulted in a number of decidedly un-WWE things happening each week.

It started life as the last series of the original NXT, offering the titular redemption as a prize for several prior runners-up. As it became apparent that Triple H was going to take the entire developmental system (and initials) as part of a major rethink, the show's purpose beyond filling schedules was completely lost.

A love square featuring faces Derrick Bateman and Kaitlyn and heels Johnny Curtis & Maxine thus became one of several running gags masquerading as wrestling storylines. Maxine was first Bateman's shrill and loathed other half, with 'Dirty Curty' trying to slither in for his own filthy games. The show fell just short of four weddings and a funeral until it's own death was eventually mourned amidst a slew of broken hearts in (and out) of the ring.
