10 WWE Romances You Totally Don't Remember

6. John Cena & Maria

John Cena's relationship with Maria was much like one of his big in-ring defeats - he barely sold it as it was happening, and completely forgot about it the second it ended. They did at least kiss on air though, which satisfied Vince McMahon's policy of making his top babyface as big a hit with the women as he was with the parent-pestering children.

In reality, their union was little more than a good luck kiss that manifested as something more because she was obviously so smitten with 'The Champ'.

Before he'd rush to her aid at the other end of the year during a vicious attack from Umaga orchestrated by guest General Manager Eric Bischoff, Cena paired off with the former Diva Search contender to take on Edge and Lita on a Raw shortly after he'd dethroned 'The Rated-R Superstar' at that year's Royal Rumble.

Her nerves threatened to overwhelm them ahead of the match, but Cena planted a kiss on her before she could stress him out too. It was prime "stupid bloody woman, calm down" writing from a company that had done the same old sh*t for years.
