10 WWE Royal Rumble Entrants NOBODY Wanted

7. Takao Omori (1996)

Former IWGP Tag-Team Champ and All Japan regular Takao Omori was another curious pick for a berth In the Royal Rumble. He appeared back in 1996, but only lasted approx three minutes before being tossed out by Triple H and a past-his-prime Jake Roberts.

Granted, the '96 Rumble was hardly bursting with star power. Only Shawn Michaels, Owen Hart, Diesel and maybe The British Bulldog had a hope in hell of winning the thing; meanwhile, Omori was very-much there to add some international flavour and make up the numbers for the match.

In retrospect, it's kinda hilarious to hear Vinnie Mac struggling for anything to say about the young Japanese star on commentary. Being fair to him, the WWF crowd was similarly struggling to give a damn about what they were seeing from the future All Japan Triple Crown winner.

Omori's Rumble spot was as useless a gig as you're ever likely to find throughout the bout's rich history.
