That exceptional piece of casting aside, Breaking Ground gave us a realistic look into the NXT Performance Center and detailed the daily struggles involved in breaking out onto the developmental show.
Just imagine it as a Tough Enough follow-up. First you pushed yourself beyond your limits to make it to the big time, now you have to nearly destroy yourself to become a star.
The show focused on developing the skills of those climbing the ladder - testing their promo game, in-ring ability and character presentation - whilst also giving us a close-up perspective of what it meant to be an NXT Superstar.
Jason Jordan, Chad Gable, Carmella and Sami Zayn all had their turn under the microscope and this surely aided them get over as rising stars to those who weren't aware of their existence beforehand.
The show looked to be a one and done, yet another Breaking Ground season could serve as a vehicle for today's lesser NXT stars to get themselves over as relatable babyfaces - highlighting the mountains they've had to overcome to become a part of that incredible roster.
