10 WWE Stars Already Having A Terrible 2018

5. Jinder Mahal

As refreshing as it was to see someone new at the top of the tree, Jinder Mahal was never that convincing as WWE Champion. It'd be silly to claim he didn't work hard to reinvent himself (and equally as harsh to blame WWE for rewarding his efforts), but there was no proof of sustained interest in Jinder's anti-American rants or feuds against Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura, and AJ Styles.

Indeed, the only reason people popped when it became clear he'd be working with Styles was the prospect of AJ taking the belt. When that happened, Mahal must have known he'd be kissing his main event run goodbye. What he can't have known is that he'd be pipped to SmackDown's secondary strap by Bobby Roode too.

'The Modern Day Maharaja' is in a weird spot right now. Had he won the title, his xenophobic character would have been sent into overdrive. By losing, he's right back in that mid card glut he worked so hard to escape from last year. It's difficult to see him escaping again in 2018.
