10 WWE Stars And Their Biblical Counterparts

2. John Cena = Samson

Believe it or not, the Bible is full of stories of what we could consider today to be €˜badassery€™. Despite many parts of the Bible being stories that teach mercy and compassion, there are just as many tales of brute force, violence, and feats of superhuman strength, the likes of which have come to define modern professional wrestling. The most notable of these Biblical badasses is Samson, the John Cena of the Bible. Samson was the strongest, most powerful miracle worker of the Old Testament. The Bible goes into great detail covering his exploits, which ranged from tearing a lion in half with his bare hands, to destroying entire armies by himself. This parallels Cena€™s booking in WWE as the €˜superman€™ of the promotion. No matter how difficult the challenge placed before him is, Cena keeps getting up and refuses to stay down. He rarely loses cleanly, and upholds all the virtues and noble goals of WWE. The only real difference between Cena and Samson is that Samson had two notable weaknesses that led to his downfall (losing his hair and promiscuous women), while Cena doesn€™t appear to have any weaknesses whatsoever. That makes the story of Samson more interesting (because he actually had his weaknesses exploited, leading to his downfall), while Cena€always€wins, leading to a never-ending circle of storyline repetition.
