Fans had no idea what they were in for when Titus O'Neil and Darren Young first formed the Prime Time Players in early 2012. On paper, they seemed like a useless addition to the tag team division, but over time, they proved to be one of the most entertaining tandems in WWE in quite some time. They had instant chemistry with one another and while they never won tag team gold during their two year run, they were always involved in the championship picture. As great as they were together, many fans saw O'Neil as the breakout star of the two, knowing that he was destined for great things once his stint with Young was over with. The two were prematurely split on the January 31 edition of SmackDown. This would have been completely fine had WWE actually had a long term plan in mind for either guy. As it turned out, they didn't. They briefly feuded shortly thereafter, culminating in a match at Elimination Chamber which was won by Young. From there, neither NXT rookie went on to do anything of note. They were throwaway participants in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 30 and haven't done anything of note since. Young was sidelined with an injury in the spring while O'Neil went on to become a regular on the WWE Superstars program. He's won his fair share of matches over the last several months (mostly in tag team action), but not nearly as many as he should have. It's a shame to see O'Neil being wasted away in a tandem with Heath Slater that's bound to flop when he could be utilized to his full potential in singles competition.
