Cesaro was on the first track to super stardom earlier this year while a part of The Real Americans. He quickly got over with audiences by busting out his signature swing during matches and teasing tension with tag team partner Jack Swagger. His career peaked at WrestleMania 30 when he emerged victorious in the inaugural Andre the Giant Battle Royal and joined forces with Paul Heyman the next night on Raw, but it was all downhill from there. Fans had high hopes for Cesaro's future as a singles competitor, but his pairing with Heyman ultimately hindered his momentum as opposed to helping it. For three consecutive pay-per-views, Cesaro failed to win gold in the forms of the United States (Payback), WWE World Heavyweight (Money in the Bank) and Intercontinental Championships (Battleground). He then started losing for no apparent reason. It began with a shocking loss to Kofi Kingston on the June 30 Raw, but his shortcomings became more of a running gag than anything based off how often they were happening for the remainder of the summer. Despite severing ties with Heyman in August, Cesaro still failed to find success against the likes of John Cena, Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler. It wasn't until just recently that Cesaro finally started getting back to this winning ways, becoming the No. 1 contender to the United States title on the August 25 Raw. His sour streak of bad luck could come to an official end if he defeats Sheamus for the star-spangled prize at Night of Champions, but there's no denying that these few months have been extremely disappointing for the Swiss Superman.
