10 WWE Stars Fans Refused To Give Up On

8. Matt Hardy

The end of the road looks close for Matt Hardy in WWE if recent tweets are to be believed as shoot rather than kayfabe masked as such. He's a guy who has been through almost everything the corporate machine has to offer, and he's been able to reflect on what might've been outside company walls too.

All of those experiences hardened this particular Hardy, and helped him realise that wrestling fans have his back; the same could be said Matt's brother Jeff. He was almost on this list, but there's a current kinship between the elder Hardy and the audience these days that's hard to deny.

Whether Team Xtreme, Mattitude, Broken, Woken or a combo of each, Matt continues to be greeted with affection by folks who point blank refuse to give up on him. That's been true when Hardy has been through personal strife, and it's true now when he's being typecast as a starmaker to the younger performers WWE really care about in 2020.

Matt has come back before. Don't count out a reinvention again, even if he leaves for AEW.
