Why The Internet Hates Him: It's not just the internet that hates John Cena. Clearly a large portion of the adult male audience cannot stand the man. But the Cena hate is particularly strong online. Cena has poked fun at the internet backlash by wearing a t-shirt that said 'If Cena Wins We Complain Online'. Internet fans hate Cena because he is the face of the company, a face that is targeted primarily towards children. He is a walking merchandise machine, spouting off tired catchphrases and making juvenile poop jokes. He has been doing essentially the same thing on WWE TV for ten years now. His act is tired, plain and simple. His recent foray into the United States Championship division, while it could be seen as a demotion, is the most interesting Cena has been in a long time. Of course Cena triumphed over Rusev, as he always does. Cena's constant winning is also a major gripe amongst internet fans. Why They're Wrong: Is Cena the best wrestler of all time? No, he's not. Has he been involved in many genuinely classic matches? Yes, he has. Should Cena have been pushed that strongly for as long as he has? Why not? He draws houses, increases ratings and shifts merchandise. That's the bottom line in WWE. Nobody works harder than John Cena, save for Vince McMahon himself. He makes more personal appearances, works more dates and does more Make-A-Wishes than anyone on the roster. While the internet fans would love to see Cena turn heel, it's not going to happen because he loves to put smiles on kids faces. And there's nothing wrong with that.
