10 WWE Stars That The Internet Is Wrong To Hate

4. Triple H

Why The Internet Hates Him: Triple H was the most hated wrestler amongst the internet fan base between 2002-2005. Triple H had gained a glowing reputation for his performances from late 1999 until his quadriceps tear in May 2001. He really stepped up his game and was many people's picks for Wrestler of the Year for the year 2000. When Triple H came back in January 2002 he had added about forty pounds of solid muscle. The upshot of that was that his body started falling apart at an alarming rate. His performances suffered and he was moving noticeably slower and his movements were more laboured. Okay, let's not sugarcoat it: his matches usually sucked. On top of that, he was being booked as the bada** to end all bada**es while shacking up with the bosses daughter. That rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and led to claims that Triple H was holding others down so that he could hog the limelight for themselves. Why They're Wrong: Well, the internet fans might not be entirely wrong on this one. There was a noticeable drop in match and performance quality during this period and the twenty minute promos were insufferable. But Triple H was trying to establish himself as a locker room leader and a face of the company. He may have had power, but he didn't have that much power. Vince and the head writers were still calling the shots. It was their final decision to push Triple H as strongly as they did. Triple H also had some great matches during that period, particularly in 2004 with Chris Benoit and Shawn Michaels. Triple H still polarises a lot of internet fans but the truth is that he's one of the best in the business. He's started to win the IWC back recently thanks to his reduced role on WWE TV and his involvement with NXT.
