10 WWE Stars To Replace Daniel Bryan As Intercontinental Champion
2. Damien Sandow
Those in doubt regarding the popularity of Damien Sandow need look no further than the reception he received in the WrestleMania 31 pre-show battle royale. His long-awaited turn on The Miz brought the crowd to life, but this momentum was quickly forgotten after Big Show dumped him out to win the Andre the Giant Memorial Trophy. Fortunately for Sandow, there's still time to capitalise. Already a familiar figure to WWE fans thanks to his marvellous early performances as a smarmy, intelligent heel, Sandow became the unlikeliest of babyfaces under the tyrannical employment of his egotistical boss, winning the crowd over with his comedic antics (and incredible dedication to the art of mime). His ill-fated previous spell as Mr. Money In The Bank proved that Sandow didn't look out of place in verbal exchanges with those at the top of the card, but his push was booked horribly and resulted in just as rapid a decline. Now is the perfect time for Sandow to show the WWE what he can do as a full babyface, something a run with the Intercontinental Championship could provide. It's rare to see a largely comedic figure in wrestling draw such universal acclaim, but Damien seems to have hit the jackpot. It would be a shame to see it go to waste.
