4. R-Truth

A heel turn in mid-2011 didn't just help R-Truth shed his somewhat grating rapping entrance - it also catapulted him from the middle of the card to the top of it, where he fought John Cena for the WWE Championship at Capitol Punishment, before going on to headline Survivor Series in one of The Rock's only four matches since he became a full-time movie star in 2003.

That's pretty good going, but the problem was his alliance with The Miz - collectively, "The Awesome Truth" - worked a little too well. The pair essentially became an upper-mid-card tag team duo, while CM Punk settled into the role of Raw's top heel (using the same I deserve better than this shtick that R-Truth had tried to emulate - and to greater effect). In the end, he was suspended for 30 days after a Wellness Policy violation, and came back a face. A mid-card face - who rapped.
