10 WWE Stars Who Desperately Need New Gimmicks

2. Tommaso Ciampa

Has Tommaso Ciampa overachieved in WWE? You better believe he has. Any other opinion is flat-out wrong. Ciampa has scratched and clawed his way up the ladder, from getting the piss slapped out of him by Samoa Joe (uncontracted, for the record) to arguably the best NXT Championship in the title's near-decade-long history. Nothing came easy for Ciampa, but the Black Heart always give off the impression that he wouldn't have it any other way.

Ciampa has overachieved but he finds himself in a weird sort of limbo in 2021. What is left for the former one-time NXT Tag Team Champion? The last year has seen Ciampa suffer a couple of serious chastening defeats to Karrion Kross and Walter, thrashings that made the pecking order all the more clear. Other heels are ahead of him and Ciampa's always been at his best when playing the bad guy.

Tommaso Ciampa doesn't need a total overhaul, but he certainly needs a look. There is immense talent in his frame. It would be a shame for Ciampa to find himself pushed out of view at such a relatively young age, injuries notwithstanding. Fans don't need Ciampa to revert to his previous appearance as Muhammad Hassan's lawyer, but a change might do him the world of good.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
