10 WWE Stars Who Desperately Need New Gimmicks

1. Sami Zayn

Conspiracy theorist Sami Zayn is a great character. Despite the immensely irritating nature of the gimmick, Zayn remains one of the most entertaining performers on WWE TV, and his descent into neurosis and madness has been great fun to watch. The whiny heel who thinks everyone is against him is just about as eternal as bad guy wrestling characters get.

Despite all that, Sami Zayn needs a change. Well, not exactly, he just needs to go back to being the best damn babyface in all of WWE. It has been great fun watching Zayn portray a full-on heel for the first time in his WWE career but not a segment passes without thoughts of what could have been.

WWE missed so many open goals with babyface Zayn that it beggars belief. Where was Intercontinental Champion workhorse babyface Sami Zayn? The world's largest wrestling promotion lucked into a mega-underdog in Daniel Bryan and did everything to stop him from succeeding, a trend that the company went on to perfect with Zayn. How have we not had a WrestleMania end with Zayn holding world championship gold aloft as graffiti falls around him?

Sami Zayn's run as a psychotic heel has been great but can we have babyface Sami Zayn back already?

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
