10 WWE Stars Who Had WrestleManias They Would Rather Forget

7. Bret Hart - WrestleMania IX

Bret Hart just loved to play the hero but knew that as long as Hulk Hogan was in the company that he would have to play second-fiddle. Hogan was the company's biggest ever draw and had Vince in his back pocket whereas Bret was a hard-working, solid wrestler who the company weren't sure could get it done on a main event level. 'The Hitman' clashed with Yokozuna in the WrestleMania IX top-liner. Bret wrestled a smart match, but there's not much that he could do with his grotesquely overweight opponent. Yoko's manager Mr. Fuji cost Bret the match and WWF Title by throwing salt in his eyes. It was a disappointing end to Bret's first run as Champion, but things were going to get a whole lot worse. After the match, Hulk Hogan (who had teamed with his buddy Brutus Beefcake to face Money Inc. earlier on the show) came to ringside to console Bret. Well, if the definition of 'console' is to very briefly ask if you are okay, halfheartedly protest and then demand a title match for yourself, then that's what Hogan did. He won the WWF Title for all of the hulkamaniacs in thirty seconds while Bret cheered him on and then skulked backstage. This should have been Bret's night. Putting the title on Hogan was a mistake and everyone knew it, but egos got in the way. Hogan bombed as champion, disappearing from the company for months before losing the title back to Yokozuna in his first defence (to a legdrop no less). Bret would have to wait until WrestleMania XX to get his moment. WrestleMania IX was a moment to forget for the 'Pink and Black Attack'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RObW5Su7zVg
