10 WWE Stars Who Had WrestleManias They Would Rather Forget
5. Ultimo Dragon - WrestleMania XX
Ultimo Dragon is one of the greatest light heavyweight/cruiserweight wrestlers of all time. He made his name first in Mexico, then in his home country Japan, before moving to WCW. A botched elbow operation looked like it had ended his in-ring career in 1998 so he moved back to Japan and opened his training school, Toryumon. Dragon was ostensibly retied before he underwent another elbow operation in 2002 which repaired the damage that the first op caused. Dragon entered talks wit WWE in late 2002 and signed with them in the spring of 2003. His main incentive for signing was to fulfil two lifelong goals: to perform at Madison Square Garden and have a match at a WrestleMania. He actually had his television debut at MSG, beating Shannon Moore on the June 26th 2003 Smackdown. Dragon was coming in with a lot of hype and the hope/belief was that he would/could have the same impact as Rey Mysterio had a year before. It didn't quite turn out that way and he found himself becoming a Velocity regular. Still, he had to have been pleased when he was announced as a participant in the Cruiserweight Championship open/gauntlet at WrestleMania XX. Ultimo would finally have the chance to show what he was capable of and live out his childhood dream. Unfortunately for him, the first thing Dragon did was slip on his cape on the way to the ring. Clearly frazzled, he nearly fell off the middle rope afterwards. Then he was eliminated from the match within a couple of minutes. It was probably not the WrestleMania debut that he had dreamed of for years. The slip was edited out of the DVD/WWE Network releases of the show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJqmVhl7Rmc
