10 WWE Stars Who Have Defined SummerSlam

8. Ultimate Warrior

Much like Hogan, the Ultimate Warrior was also a key part of SummerSlam during the show€™s early years. Unlike the Hulkster though, Warrior can boast the honour of being the only man to emerge victorious in each of the first five summer PPVs. And more to the point, those victories were each highly valuable. The first saw Warrior defeat the Honky Tonk Man€”ending his record Intercontinental title reign in just 31 seconds€”in an appearance that is widely regarded as one of the most exciting in SummerSlam history. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzmWjqzOtfk He won the same belt again the following year, this time beating Rick Rude, before going one better and downing the very same opponent, this time with the WWE title on the line, inside a steel cage in 1990. 1991 saw Warrior turn to tag team action, forming the aforementioned alliance with Hogan to face Slaughter, Mustafa and Adnan. And finally, he scored a victory over WWE Champion Randy Savage in 1992€”however the DQ victory meant that the belt itself eluded him. The only blemish on Warrior€™s SummerSlam career was his alleged threat of no-showing the 1991 event. It remains a controversial issue, but isn€™t quite enough to overshadow five blockbuster matches that made Warrior arguably the top star of SummerSlam€™s early years.
