This is yet another moment in wrestling history that will live on forever, as fans continue to be shocked at the outright audacity of the entire thing. In December of 1995, the WWF decided to release Alundra Blayze, who was their Women's Champion at the time. For whatever reason, they didn't take the actual title belt back from her upon her release, so she had it with her when she was negotiating with WCW. Eric Bischoff had the bright idea of having her show up on live WCW television with the belt, only to then dump it into a trash can. According to Madusa (her name in wrestling, WCW included, before she went to the WWF in 1993), she wasn't a fan of the idea, but after some more coercing from Bischoff, she agreed to do it. Imagine, for a moment, the look on Vince McMahon's face when he either saw what Madusa did, or when he was first told about what Madusa did. Can't you just picture him turning a certain shade of red in anger? Can't you just picture the veins in his forehead and neck starting to bulge? That's quite the slap in the face, even if you argue that the WWF should have gone out of their way to get the belt back from her upon releasing her. Something must have struck a nerve, though, because the company deactivated the Women's Title and kept it vacant for three years before bringing it back in 1998.
