10 WWE Stars Who MUST Be Thinking About Jumping Ship To AEW
6. Akira Tozawa
Akira Tozawa used to be a star of the Japanese promotion Dragon Gate and turned many heads in his American ventures for companies like Chikara and PWG. He's a talented performer with a great ring arsenal, an intense look and excellent striking ability. So what has WWE done to him?
The current position that Tozawa finds himself in is a shadow of his former self, as he's been painted as a Japanese stereotype, acting goofy and even dressing in a ninja costume. This gimmick caused an uproar when it began, yet it's still running to this day.
His switch to comedy angles has not given him much success either, unless you count 24/7 Title reigns, which you probably shouldn't. It's impossible to believe that Towaza isn't looking for an opportunity to get out and revert back to his days of old, fighting fierce matches and being taken seriously as a competitor.
AEW has likely crossed his mind many times, as they've got a much better track record for letting their performers enjoy the art of wrestling as opposed to goofy gimmicks and are far less tied up with Asian stereotypes. Such a pairing must seem heavenly to this unfortunate talent.
