Well, Becky Lynch has gone all-in on the angle if that is the case and hasn't shied away from talking about her current contract situation with WWE on social media.
The internet went into overdrive in December 2019 when Lynch announced on her Twitter - after she'd finally been given her match with Asuka at the Royal Rumble - that 'it’s amazing what they’ll give you when you remind them your contract is coming up soon.' This comment hinted at the possibility of 'The Man' taking her ball elsewhere if she wasn't given what she wanted.
No one in their right mind honestly believes that Vince McMahon would ever allow his top asset to leave and if her contract is genuinely set to run out, you can bet that a colossal money deal will be signed before the year is out.
Regardless of the authenticity of the situation, fans have still had their interests piqued by the creative decision to allow Lynch to tease a departure if she isn't given the freedom to defend her title.
As of writing, Lynch has still yet to confirm whether or not she has agreed to stay on with WWE. So, this big tease could involve a few more twists and turns yet.
