10 WWE Stars Who Wanted To Be Roddy Piper

Which superstars were influenced most by the Rowdy one.

Friday night's news of the untimely death of "Rowdy" Roddy Piper was likely not the news that longtime pro wrestling fans needed to hear in the wake of just one week prior, Hulk Hogan being excised from WWE history. Add in the demise of Dusty Rhodes this year, and to many fans of the industry, three iconic names are now, in theory, no longer present. However, all is not lost. Whether watching in-ring competition in the current era or if through the magic of the WWE Network you're interested in looking back through history, there are performers whose careers either very closely mirror and/or were significantly influenced by the work of Roddy Piper. Piper was unique in that he also made a generation of people believe in Hulkamania (and other babyface movements in other territories) by embodying the worst traits of humankind. However, he was such a professional about it that even though it was the kayfabe era, we knew he was working us. Thus, whenever he flipped babyface we loved him immediately. Here are ten names to watch, and in doing so, you'll find bits and pieces (or in some cases large tracts) of Piper that will remind you that while gone, Roddy Piper will not soon be forgotten.
