It made perfect sense for Dean Ambrose to be the premier pick for SmackDown considering, well, he's the WWE champion, but it was widely assumed Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan's second choice would be John Cena. Thankfully, that wasn't the case as Cena was saved for the second round. Rather, SmackDown went with AJ Styles.

For a guy who has been absolutely killing it since coming to WWE at the onset of 2016, Styles being the fourth person to be drafted overall was a huge endorsement of him. And SmackDown was the right home for him, too.

In the six months Styles has been with the company, he has wrestled a large portion of his televised matches on SmackDown. Whether he was up against Chris Jericho, The Usos, Xavier Woods or Kofi Kingston, he had a phenomenal performance every time he stepped into SmackDown's squared circle, and it should be no different going forward.

Now that he's on the opposite show away from Roman Reigns, it is very possible we could be seeing world title gold around the waist of the master of the Styles Clash sooner than later, in addition to already being the blue brand's top heel by default.
