What a difference a year makes, ey?

Last year, Seth Rollins was steam-rolling into the Royal Rumble with all the voices of the WWE Universe firmly behind him and he seemed destined to lift the Universal title at WrestleMania 35.

The Beast Slayer did just that... and then the problems started.

Though many fans had desperately petitioned for Rollins to be presented as the top guy in the company, the reality of that scenario soon became apparent and it involved some putrid programmes with the likes of Baron Corbin and Braun Strowman. Not to mention the shocking decision to pair him with his real life fiancée, Becky Lynch, in another stale feud with Corbin and Lacey Evans.

Rollins floundered and despite claiming two victories over Brock Lesnar, he couldn't get the crowd consistently onside. His embarrassing Twitter game and Hell in a Cell match against Bray Wyatt's 'The Fiend' didn't help things either.

That being said, Rollins is still an exceptional in-ring performer. With the right character direction and a few more outstanding matches under his belt, he could recover in time for WrestleMania. However, as things stand Rollins isn't looking like a serious contender for Lesnar's WWE title and the further the company keep him away from 'The Fiend', the better.
