10 WWE Stars Who Will Miss WrestleMania 36
3. John Cena
How times change.
Years ago, the thought of John Cena missing WrestleMania was impossible. He was WWE's poster boy, and he gave his life to the promotion for almost two decades. Nowadays, he's carving out a handsome living for himself in Hollywood and has bagged a big-time role in The Suicide Squad.
His popularity outside WWE has increased – Cena is now a mainstream star, and he doesn't necessarily need pro wrestling to stay relevant. That could mean JC will lean more on his Hollywood commitments and give 'Mania a miss. If he does, it'll be the first WrestleMania without Cena since X-8 in 2002 (he appeared on the Sunday Night Heat pre-show before XIX).
Another unannounced rap battle cameo like the one at 35 could suffice, though it's not essential. That aforementioned Suicide Squad movie also seems super-important to Cena's chances of cracking Hollywood's upper tier for good. He surely wouldn't want to jeopardise that.
