10 WWE Stars Who Would Be Nothing Without Their Props

3. 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan's 2x4

Make way for the first ever Royal Rumble winner! 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan finds his way onto our list with arguably the most banal prop in WWE history and its inception is about as random as the object itself.

Before his time in the WWF, Duggan described how Bruiser Brody advised him to 'carry something to the ring - carry something you can use', which would make him seem like more of a threat than the robe wearing icons of that era. In an attempt to make his character stand-out, he grabbed the closest thing to him at the time... which happened to be a 2x4 piece of wood.

For a man rubbing elbows with the larger than life characters of Ted DiBiase and Mr. Olympia at the time, this simple plank helped to generate an everyman quality from within him. Paired with his signature 'HOOOO!' battle cry, it established him as a beloved character towards the backend of the '80s.

Incredible as this is to summarise, though talented, Duggan would never have scaled the heights of the standard-bearing company or become the American Patriot had it not been for his trusty 2x4 focusing his raw energy and passion.
