10 WWE Stars Whose Best Match Came Against Bret Hart
7. 1-2-3 Kid
A couple of years later Bret would have used the momentum gathered from his Intercontinental Title run to transition to the WWE
Championship scene.
As the champion, one such defence saw him take on the 1-2-3 Kid on a fairly routine episode of Monday Night Raw, in a match that would have been fully deserving of PPV spot of some sort.
In total, Bret and Kid went over 17-and-a-half minutes, an awfully long time for a one-hour TV show in 1994. Some early one-upmanship and chain wrestling showed that Kid was well up for the sizeable challenge presented to him, before Bret soon adopted the role of grizzled, wily veteran, and Kid that of the young upstart looking to cause a shocking upset.
He almost did just that after a flurry of flip-based offense, but in the end it was Bret who would pick up the win, despite Kid’s foot being on the bottom rope. Still, that finish -and the preceding match- ensured that both men came out of the contest looking great.
Kid’s had some decent matches in the WWE, including his well-executed debut against Razor Ramon and the Kliq-tastic tag match pitting Razor and Kid versus Shawn Michaels and Diesel. Ultimately, though, I think it’s fair to say his meeting with Bret was the best of the lot.
