10 WWE Stars Whose Best Match Came Against Bret Hart
5. Diesel
When you think of Diesel, you don’t necessarily think of
classic match-ups. Even Kevin Nash himself has been known to poke fun at his
limited arsenal and five, maybe six, moves of doom (including a hair flick).
At he 1995 Royal Rumble, however, Bret Hart managed to coax a 27-minute contest out of the big man in a rare draw for the WWE Championship.
Much of the story of the match saw Bret working the leg, not only to cut the big man down but also to set up the Sharpshooter. The rhythm soon settled into something reminiscent of a Shawn Michaels vs. Diesel bout, with Bret doing most of the running and Diesel standing tall and defiant.
There were also some decent reversals, a bit of a ringside brawl, and even some new additions to Diesel’s moveset, including a swish gutwrench suplex at one point. Unfortunately, the action would later degenerate into chaos as half of the locker-room flocked to the ring, prompting Earl Hebner to rule the match a draw.
It brought an abrupt end to what had previously been a very entertaining affair. something that people haven’t said all that often when it comes to Diesel’s WWE Title reign.
