10 WWE Stars Whose Best Match Came Against Bret Hart
4. British Bulldog
First as friends and then later as family, the British
Bulldog and Bret Hart have shared a fairly storied past together. Inside
the ring, they’ve also been foes on a number of occasions, producing some
highly memorable contests from their many meetings over the years.
Now, initially I’d had in mind their SummerSlam 1992 encounter as a candidate for this list, a showdown that saw these two go one-on-one for the Intercontinental Championship in the main event with over 80,000 watching on inside London’s Wembley Stadium.
As fine and dandy as that all sounds, though, it was then brought to my attention that these two have actually managed to supersede that with a match from three years later.
At the wonderfully-named In Your House 5: Season Beatings event, Bret defended his WWF Championship against Bulldog in an absolute clinic of match. We saw Bret busted open, a piledriver apiece for either man, a tease of the spot that finished that aforementioned SummerSlam bout, and finally a lovely La Magistral cover with which Bret scored the win (taught to him by a young Chris Jericho, believe it or not)
Something of a hidden gem this one, but that doesn’t make this clash any less special, as these two old friends put on a match that still to this day holds up some 20-odd years later.
