10 WWE Stars Whose Stock Has Fallen The Most Since SummerSlam 2016

2. Randy Orton

Sure, Randy Orton has been WWE Champion this year and he did win the belt on the grand stage of WrestleMania 33. Watch that event and you'll witness a tepid pop. Y'know, the kind of response that cheers politely for just another match in the middle of the card. That's how Randy's big title win came across at 'Mania.

Thus far in 2017, Orton has had feuds with Bray Wyatt and Jinder Mahal, and now moves on to SummerSlam 2017 for a hastily-assembled rivalry opposite Rusev. Contrast this with last year's main event slot against Brock Lesnar and things become even more fascinating; Orton has fallen from the lofty headline spot to a throwaway feud with another guy WWE don't know what to do with.

The brutality of Brock's beating has been forgotten 12 months on. Now, despite winning the WWE Title and headlining numerous SmackDown pay-per-views, Randy is a mere cog in the wheel at SummerSlam this year. That has to sting, not least because Rusev is a mighty come down from Lesnar.
