John Cena has never had a true tag team partner. It is a sad but true state of affairs, as his partnerships have always been born out of either necessity or convenience, fighting bigger foes or forced together by whomever the crafty heel authority figure at the time was.

This much is clear from the list of men he has won tag team gold (and copper) with. In fact, you'd be hard pushed to find a more illustrious list of wrestlers in the modern age. Actually, the list includes David Otunga, so I'm probably exaggerating there.

The other three are Batista, Shawn Michaels and The Miz, and all three came about ahead of a big match with Big Match John. Predictable? Depressingly so. Here's hoping Cena strikes up some sort of partnership with James Ellsworth, a la Hiroshi Tanahashi and Captain New Japan in NJPW.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
