10 WWE Stories Everybody Got Wrong In 2017

7. The Undertaker 'Returning'

The 'story': At WrestleMania, a worn-out Undertaker left his clothes on the floor like a lazy teenager, following his painful defeat to Roman Reigns. Slowly, he marched up the aisle, raised a fist, and vanished into the ground. After three decades of 'The Phenom', it seemed he had dug his last grave. Since apparently hanging up his shovel for good, no dip in the product's ratings has gone by without news of The Undertaker's impending return, the 'Deadman' ironically the one to revive the company's ailing fortunes. 'Taker was spotted flying to New York ahead of SummerSlam, and said to be training ahead of No Mercy, each episode presaging his rise from the grave.

The reality: Clearly bogus. If WWE had just came out and said that The Undertaker had retired - or the man himself - then the monthly rumour-mongering of The Deadman's reanimation could have been put to rest. But there's a sense that one day, they might just convince him to come back. And even if he never does, the interest raised by the regular loose talk is a bonus.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
