10 WWE Storylines That Were Never Resolved

2. The Entire Nexus Angle

WWE.comWWE.comOn its inception, the Nexus angle was a huge storyline in 2010. The idea was that they were a group of NXT guys who were disgruntled with the state of the WWE and had teamed up to attack and take over. Invasion-type angles aren't anything new, Nash and Hall did it in WCW with the NWO and of course there was the ill-executed WCW/ECW invasion angle in the early '00's. Still, it shook the company up and looked to make stars out of all the members of the group, especially their supposed leader Wade Barrett. Part way through the storyline however, Barrett was crushed by John Cena on PPV and the group announced that they were 'under new management.' The new leader was revealed as the then-upper midcard firebrand CM Punk an the group were re-branded 'The New Nexus'. The leadership role did suit his rebellious character but his own push would drown out that of the rest of the group in the following months. 2011 was the year of Punk as he reached his highest moment to date, the now historic title match at Money In The Bank 2011 where he defeated Cena for the title and left the company with it. He did wrestle this match still technically the leader of the group but after he left, the group seemingly disbanded without a shred of fanfare. Upon Punk's return a few weeks later, the group were never mentioned again. The New Nexus were victims of the WWE seizing the lightning in a bottle moment that Punk has created following his famous shoot promo and they never got the resolution they probably deserved.
