10 WWE Storylines That Made No Damn Sense In 2020

6. Akira Tozawa Survives Death By Shark

Truth be told, the segment itself wasn't all that bad. The 24/7 Championship is a joke, after all, so why not go the whole hog on the ridiculousness? Have R-Truth defending the title all over the place, in all sorts of settings. If you're going to rip off the Chuck Taylor Instagram title, do it properly.

With that in mind, Truth defending it in the sea alongside Little Jimmy was quite fun. It was a riotous way to end the feud between the two, although there were a lot of questions left open by the whole 'a shark has eaten Akira Tozawa' thing. It was a fun segment and a sign that WWE was finally moving in the right direction when it came to this particular title. How was Tozawa's disappearance going to be explained? In time, surely.

Except it wasn't. A week later the whole thing continued, with Tozawa rolling up Truth after passing the torch, by which I mean 'belt'. Other than being mentioned in a letter, the shark side of things was forgotten. How did Akira Tozawa survive being eaten by a shark?

There's nothing wrong with the 24/7 Championship being all silly all the time, but there still needs to be some boundaries. Surviving being eaten by a shark doesn't just make no sense, it also lessens the value of these weekly segments.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
