Of course, we can’t talk about SummerSlam without giving a mention to John Cena. He may hold the record for the most defeats in the history of the PPV, but he can also make a number of other claims that don’t reflect quite so poorly on him.

After making his SummerSlam debut in 2004, John Cena has been an ever-present at the show since, appearing in every one of the 12 possible PPVs, with that number soon to become 13 at this year’s show. Furthermore, ten of those appearances have been in Championship bouts, with the remaining two outings being main event-calibre contests as he faced Batista in 2008 and led Team WWE against Team Nexus in 2010.

Also, and perhaps unsurprisingly, he holds the record for the most main events at SummerSlam, with six show-closing matches under his belt to date.

For the longevity he’s displayed and his consistent presence in the main event scene, perhaps that's the real reason we should be referring to him as Super Cena.

Incidentally, the record for the most successive SummerSlam appearances is currently held by the Undertaker, who managed 14 back-to-back PPV’s between 1992 and 2005. However, after winding down his schedule in his later years, ‘Taker can’t claim to still be a SummerSlam ever-present like Cena.

Besides, if Cena keeps going at his current pace, he’ll shortly overtake the Undertaker’s record anyway, adding yet another commendable accolade to an already lengthy list.
