10 WWE Superstar Gimmicks That Just Aren't Working
9. Tyler Breeze

I’ll give Fandango a slight pass here, as he was at least over for a brief time in his career. But his partner Tyler Breeze has never been over on the main roster, and he needs to undergo a complete overhaul once more if he’s going to continue to stay on-board.
Perhaps Breeze’s problem is that he’s simply just too cartoonish for this era. While some wrestlers can get over for being goofy (Health Slater, or pretty much anyone in Chikara), Breeze isn’t quite good enough in the role. And while Slater at least seems like someone you perhaps know in real life, Breeze fells better suited to have played a bully on the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, right next to Bulk and Skull.
Breeze’s promotion to the main roster was actually strange, as usually characters are on an upward trajectory when they get called up. He had already peaked as an act in developmental, and it felt like more of a case of either letting him go or just putting him on Raw and SmackDown and seeing if it would somehow work there. It has not.
Perhaps toning things down a bit and moving him to the Cruiserweight Division could save Breeze, but even then, his in-ring work doesn’t seem strong enough to keep up with the likes of Rich Swann, and T.J. Perkins. So what the hell can you do with him?
We’ll just have to see how much longer WWE is willing to let him breeze through the company without getting over.
