4. The Rock
WWE.comSummerslam is the celebration of the summer season. The summer season also happens to be when Hollywood likes to release their biggest blockbuster. So if youre talking about Mr. Summerslam, a box office draw like The Rock has to be in the running. Not only is the guy the single greatest wrestler turned actor of all time, but he is also the most electrifying man in sports and entertainment. Whether its at the cinema, or in an arena on PPV, The Rock is a blockbuster performer, and virtually a license to print cash. The Peoples Champ has a very limited Summerslam history, but the fact is its a very strong history. Hes wrestled at five Summerslams, with a record of 3-2. He has competed with a championship on the line at 80% of his Summerslam matches, including a terrific Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Title with Triple H in 1998, a great Triple Threat WWF Title Match with Triple H and Kurt Angle in 2000, capturing the WCW Title from future WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T in 2001, and a torch passing effort against Brock Lesnar for the Undisputed Title in 2002. His only lackluster effort was against Billy Gunn in a Kiss My Ass Match in 1999, and that match was still second from the top of the card. The fact is that The Rock was nothing less than a primetime performer in every appearance hes made at Summerslam, he is one of the most bankable names in Hollywood and without question the most bankable name for the WWE right now. Everything about The Great One screams Blockbuster, and isnt that what summer and conversely Mr. Summerslam is all about?
