3. CM Punk
WWE.comCM Punk like The Rock, is a primetime Summerslam performer. He may not be a movie star like The Rock, but the guy has blockbuster talent. Also like The Rock, he shares an affinity for the summer season, lest we forget either of the Summer Of Punks. Whether it was in ROH or the WWE, CM Punk has had a tendency to own summers, and his Summerslam history is evidence of that. CM Punk has competed in every Summerslam since 2007 (with the exception of this year as things stand), has a record of 4-4, and in all but two of those bouts he was competing with a World Title on the line. In 2007 he lost to John Morrison with the ECW Title up for grabs, in 2008 he defeated JBL to retain his World Heavyweight Championship, he won a TLC match against Jeff Hardy to win the World Title in 2009, in 2011 he beat John Cena to become the Undisputed WWE Champion during the Summer of Punk (and subsequently lost the belt to Alberto Del Rio), and in 2012 he defeated Big Show and John Cena to retain the WWE Title en route to the longest WWE Title reign in the modern era. So what were those two matches he was in that didnt have titles on the line? Well in 2010 he and the Straight Edge Society lost to Big Show, which is as underwhelming as it seems, but in 2013 he only had what I consider one of the best matches of the year in a losing effort taking on Brock Lesnar. This guy shows out in the summertime and his Summerslam history only verifies that he might just be what he claims to be, and that is The Best In The World! The best might just have the greatest claim to the title of Mr. Summerslam.
